Conservation measures and monitoring of breeding season of Dalmatian PelicansConsidered as the stronghold of Dalmatian Pelicans, Divjaka-Karavasta National Park is the only breeding area for the species along Adriatic coast. The breeding season of the species consists of a highly important period, where the disturbance factors should be minimized as possible. In this regard, every year, the Albanian Ornithological Society has been engaged in implementing continues conservation measures, including:
- rehabilitation of the Dalmatian Pelicans’ breeding beds,
- night wardening of the Dalmatian Pelican colony,
- continuous monitoring of the number of breeding pairs and the productivity of the colony calculated as the number of fledgeling offspring per number of breeding pairs and
- several activities for raising awareness on the conservation efforts for the Dalmatian Pelicans and Divjaka-Karavasta National Park
