THE CAST – A hunter, an ornithologist and two dogs, Lusi and Maya THE PLOT – Yesterday, 23rd of April 2017, at the plains north-west of Tirana on the quest for the Great Snipe (Gallinago media) or Meadow Snipe as known in different regions of Albania. Before that visit, ornithologists we knew only that the Great Snipe is a migratory species for Albania. We had no clue about its movements, habitats used and distribution in Albania. Apparently hunters knew more. RECEPTION – In a plain, at first sight quite empty, there were at least 6-8 separated individuals of the Great Snipe. We spotted them several times as they were bursting in flight from the edge of the water hollows looking thus for another place to feed. At the same plain we enjoyed seeing a lot of other birds as Harriers, Sparrowhawks, Kestrels, Quails, Sandpipers, Hoopoes, Larks, Swallows, Warblers, Flycatchers, Whinchats, Wheatears, Dunnocks, Wagtails etc. THANKS – Bledar Flaga for sharing with us his knowledge and passion. This is just the beginning, Our two communities have a lot of good work to undertake. Thanks a lot to Lusi and Maya too!
