Celebrating World Wetlands Day in Tirana Grand Park

This year, for World Wetlands Day, our focus was on the Grand Park of Tirana and the common, yet significant, birds found there. This park provides an important habitat for a wide range of species, from those that reside year-round to migratory birds that use it as a wintering ground or stopover site. To highlight this value, we organized a bird ringing and birdwatching event.

Thanks to the engagement of volunteers and nature enthusiasts, this activity served as an opportunity to emphasize the importance of wetlands and natural habitats. At the same time, participants were introduced to the concept of complete checklists for bird recording and their significance, as well as the use of the Observation.org platform for documenting sightings.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us! And don’t forget—we will continue birdwatching and submitting complete checklists! It’s not about the number of species you record, but about your dedication and contribution to providing high-quality data on the country’s bird species.
