Deadline Extended: Open Call for Biodiversity Experts in KBA Gjirokastër

The Albanian Ornithological Society (AOS) is extending the deadline for applications to the open call for three experts under the project “Remember Gjirokastra: Reviving Traditions, Restoring Nature!” in the Gjirokastër Key Biodiversity Area (KBA), covering the municipalities of Gjirokastër, Libohovë and Dropull.

These assignments will support habitat and biodiversity surveys in the project area and contribute to monitoring and conservation actions for priority species and habitats.

The positions open are:

Grassland Expert
To support ecological assessment of mountain pastures and grasslands, habitat mapping, vegetation and pasture condition assessment, identification of priority areas for management and restoration, and technical input for sustainable grazing models and pasture management plans.

Entomologist Expert
To support the inventory and monitoring of insect biodiversity associated with mountain grasslands, with particular focus on priority Orthoptera species including Peripodisma tymphii, Poecilimon gracilioides and Peripodisma llofizii.

Herpetologist Expert
To support the inventory and documentation of herpetofauna in mountain grasslands and associated habitats, with particular focus on species of conservation importance, including Vipera graeca.

Fieldwork is planned primarily during 2026 and 2028, in close coordination with the AOS team.
