Another year of birding across Albania, exploring its most remarkable birds and habitats has come to an end. As 2024 draws to a close and 2025 approaches, we want to take a moment to pause, reflect, and share a few thoughts with you, our friends, about AOS—a natural evolution of everything we have built together.
AOS began as a personal project, designed as a portfolio to address the needs of bird and habitat biodiversity in Albania, has now taken on a life of its own. Over time, it has grown into something much greater—a living and dynamic organization. The name Albanian Ornithological Society (AOS), chosen by its founders, has always represented our core aspirations: a dimension never before properly explored, a dimension never properly explored even by organizations in the country that today enjoy such labels. As depicted in the painting accompanying this message, AOS stands for precision, naturalism, trust, responsibility, expertise, simplicity, and transparency. Like the species illustrated in the artwork, AOS is full of life.
With progress, AOS continues to grow and evolve. 2025 marks a meaningful new chapter for us, where AOS will remain committed, welcoming numerous initiatives that inspire gratitude for your trust in our team. Your support allows us to showcase the beauty and science of birds and wildlife from the North to the South of Albania and everywhere in between.
This evolution represents more than just a step forward—it reflects our uncompromising commitment to the mission of protecting, preserving, and studying every bird species, whether endangered, rare, threatened, emblematic, or common, while tirelessly advocating for the protection of every inch of habitat and territory in Albania.
As we wind down for the holiday season we would like to pass along our warmest wishes for an enjoyable Christmas with loved ones and all the very best for the New Year. May you find time to relax these holidays, and enjoy the special moments shared with those closest to you.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
