AOS Joins the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) as a New Member

The Albanian Ornithological Society (AOS) is excited to announce its official membership in the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER). This milestone marks a pivotal step in AOS’s efforts to protect and restore Albania’s rich biodiversity and natural habitats. SER is a global network dedicated to advancing the science, practice, and policy of ecological restoration, bringing together members from over 70 countries. By joining this international community, AOS aligns with SER’s mission to rebuild healthy ecosystems and foster biodiversity.

Membership in SER offers AOS access to international expertise, collaborative opportunities, and educational resources, as well as recognition as a committed advocate for ecological restoration. These benefits will enable AOS to enhance its restoration projects, raise awareness about the importance of ecological restoration, and influence policies that promote sustainable practices in Albania.

For years, AOS has worked tirelessly to protect Albania’s ecosystems and wildlife, particularly through bird and habitat conservation. This new partnership with SER provides an opportunity to expand initiatives such as wetland rehabilitation, forest restoration, and coastal habitat recovery. It also allows AOS to amplify its message about the value of ecological restoration to local communities and policymakers.

This membership comes at a critical time as AOS intensifies its efforts to restore habitats like Vjosa-Narta, Divjaka-Karavasta, Butrint wetlands, and Lura Mali i Dejës. With the support of SER, AOS aims to achieve impactful, long-lasting results for Albania’s natural heritage.

Joining SER reinforces AOS’s commitment to restoring ecosystems, building resilience, and promoting sustainable practices. We look forward to sharing updates on how this partnership will shape our restoration projects and contribute to a sustainable future for Albania’s natural landscapes. Together, we can repair and restore the land for the benefit of both people and nature.
