Thousands of Reasons on the Importance and Values of Divjaka-Karavasta National Park

There are at least #𝟭𝟬𝟬,𝟰𝟰𝟵 reasons why the #DivjakaKaravastaNationalPark is one of the most important wetland areas in Albania and beyond.

The prosperity of fauna is represented by at least 𝟮𝟲𝟬 species of birds, 35 mammals, 𝟭𝟮𝟬 fish, 𝟮𝟰 reptiles,𝟵 amphibians, and over 𝟭,𝟬𝟬𝟬 species of insects. In addition, the Park is the “home” of wintering waterbirds in Albania, with up to 𝟴𝟰,𝟬𝟬𝟬 individuals and nearly 40,000 per year. It is also an important breeding site for about 𝟭𝟮-𝟭𝟱,𝟬𝟬𝟬 pairs of birds, highlighted by the largest colony of herons and cormorants in Albania.

The Park is also the only breeding place in Albania for the Dalmatian Pelican (Pelecanus crispus); therefore, also known as the “Home of the Dalmatian Pelican”. Here we have mentioned a total of 𝟭𝟬𝟬,𝟰𝟰𝟵 reasons. Together, we can find millions of reasons to elevate this wetland of national and international importance and give to it the attention it deserves and the proper protection.
