Let’s Make Divjaka Natural Again
The sustainability and nature conservation in Divjaka-Karavasta depends from different actions with some of them quite urgent in term of proper decision–making from the responsible public authorities.
Considering the threats that Divjaka-Karavasta is now facing, our project-proposal would aim to conserve and better protect the globally important biodiversity of Divjaka-Karavasta National Park through ensuring the sustainability of the decision-making and by involving local communities in conservation actions and by stimulating alternative livelihood projects in order to reduce the pressure upon natural resources.
The proposal has one conservation target and one project goal.
Conservation target: Protection of the Natural Integrity of Divjaka-Karavasta National Park.
Goal: Advocate for the Protection of the Natural Integrity of the Divjaka-Karavasta National Park and ensure decision-making that supports sustainable models for the development of the local economy.
The existing National NGO coalition advocates strongly for a sustainable and legally based decision-making with regard to imminent plans for urbanization, industrialization and fish farming.
The project “Let’s Make Divjaka Natural Again!” is funded by the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) and implemented by AOS-Albanian Ornithological Society in partnership with PSEDA-Iliria and ResPublica.
The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund is a joint initiative of l’Agence Francaise de Developpment, Conservation International, the European Union, the Gobal Environment Facility, the Government of Japan and the World Bank. A fundamental goal is to ensure civil society is engaged in biodiversity conservation.”
